Principal profile

Christine Wilson:

MEDM,  B.Ed, Dip Theol, Dip Tchg, Dip Ed, TTC.  (Distinction)

My hobbies are running, playing the piano, French and family. I run with my husband each morning before coming to school. We have four adult children and we are a very close family.

I have taught in all areas of the school, mostly at intermediate, worked at the Education Review Office for one year, have been a senior teacher, deputy principal and this is my fourth Principalship.  I am passionate about my job and am privileged to be part of this excellent and happy school.

It is important to us that you are happy and confident when leaving your child at school. These are your children and it is our privilege to be part of their learning.

It is important for you to know about what they are learning It is important to us that your child is happy, learning  and becoming a caring, creative and critical thinker --discovering and developing talents and overcoming challenges at school.

There is a lot of information and it is easily accessible.

Challenge now is to critique it, use it and apply it - critical thinkers.

Learning is not restricted to the classroom and we can communicate across the world in an instant.

Challenge is learning beyond the classroom/ adapting to multicultural approaches and perspectives- caring thinkers.

Our children will work in jobs that are not invented yet.

Challenge is to give them the right skills to do them- creative thinkers.

Making positive and caring choices will always be important.

Challenge is to develop resilient, caring people who have the values to make good choices .

It’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice!

We consider character development as important as academic, cultural and sport. Values are focused and celebrated. And at Freyberg, all of us are better than any one of us!
