Absences
If your child is going to be absent from school, we ask that you phone the school before 9.30 a.m. and either speak to our office staff or leave a message on our answerphone. Parents of non-reported absent pupils will be phoned each morning to check on their whereabouts.
Assemblies
Whole school assemblies are held on the final Friday of each month, at 2.30pm in the hall. Citizenship certificates are given to outstanding pupils and each time a different culture within our school is celebrated. Assemblies are organised by the Senior School pupils and all parents and caregivers are welcome to attend.
Enrolments
Children may start school on the day they turn 5. If you wish to enrol your child, please visit the office before this date to make arrangements about paperwork, uniform and school visits. Our office staff can also organise a class for your child to be placed in if they are transferring from another school.
Internet
All Freyberg students and their parents must sign and return an internet permission form before they are allowed to access the internet from any computer within our school. You can download a copy of our internet policy here.
Library
We are very proud of our welcoming, spacious new library. All classes visit at least once a week and it is open to all children at lunchtimes. For any questions regarding our library, please contact Mrs Temu.
Lunches
We have our own lunch room which is open each day to provide food and drinks for our pupils. Orders for lunches must be placed in the class lunch box by the beginning of each day. You can download a copy of our lunch menu here.
Newsletters
Newsletters go home with the eldest child each Wednesday. Every second newsletter includes the Freyberg Chronicle, which showcases a selection of children's work from a particular class. Newsletters and chronicles are available to be downloaded from the appropriate tab on the left hand side of our web page.
School Hours
School hours are from 8.55am to 3.05pm, Monday to Friday. The school office is open from 8.30am to 3.30pm each day.
School Visits
We encourage parents and their children to visit our New Entrant classrooms prior to their fifth birthday. Visits can be arranged through the office staff. Generally these visits are held in the mornings and are a good opportunity for children to familarise themselves with the teacher and classroom environment.
Stationery
Stationery requirements are different for each class, depending on their needs. All stationery (except for flash drives and calculators) is available to be purchased from the school office. Flash drives and calculators can be easily purchased from bookstores or electronic shops. You can download a copy of the stationary which the school office supplies here.
Sun Hats
Freyberg Community School requires all children to wear a sunhat during terms 1 and 4 when outside. Children without sunhats must stay in the shade. School sunhats are avaliable from the school office.
Swimming
We are very lucky to have our own heated indoor pool on site. We offer swimming lessons by qualified instructors throughout the year.
Uniforms
We have a variety of uniform styles and sizes avaliable from our school office. Uniforms are compulsory for all pupils. We often have some good quality second-hand uniforms which can be puchased for a reduced price - please see the noticeboard in the office for details.
